About Elle
Lauren Crane aka Elle started singing at the tender age of 8 years old after taking inspiration from her father who was lead singer of a local band in Stoke-On-Trent. She was a regular orchestrator of various singing and dancing performances with kids at her local primary school where she would demand regular slots during the school assemblies to showcase her talents. Singing and dancing was her passion and she spent her most of her childhood singing with her sisters in front of the mirror hairbrush in hand along to 80’s pop hits at the time. Her life tuned turbulent at the age of 9 after the separation of her parents and Elle found her world torn apart never to be the same again. Instead of writing a diary Elle wrote lyrics to record and make sense of the events happening in her life.
It wasn’t until 15 after a tough few years when she ventured with her best friend into a local recording studio that she found her music again. She describes this now as a turning point at a time when things were hard and believes today that the music saved her life.
The producers and other artists at the studio identified a potential singing voice and armed with her scrapbook of lyrics she went on to write and record her first track ‘Nothing Lasts Forever’.. She caught the buzz knowing she wanted to write and perform more and went on to showcase the track at many local venues including Stoke-On-Trent Carnival. Wanting reach further afield she packed a bag, picked up the cassette recording of her song and moved South to Reading, Berkshire at 16 where she hooked up with Producer and Songwriter David ‘The General’ Ashby. Elle and David began working on her scrapbook of songs at Keynote Studios (Reading) to produce three showcase tracks for the Reading ‘Womad’ festival and after huge success she went on to perform at the likes of ‘The Spot’ (Covent Garden) and ‘Spitz Bar’ Shorditch collaborating with the likes of Steppers Group ‘G Phi Groove’ (London), Reggae artist ‘Deadly Hunter’ (Reading) and New York Rapper ‘Shyste’. Little did she know producer and co-writer David would become a more permanent fixture in her life and they married in Barbados, August 2004.
Elle has spent the last few years working on her album, perfecting her sound and is now ready to share her story with the world. The album ‘Love, Life and Dramas’ gives listeners an insight into Elles soul. She writes songs with heart-felt meaning and has the ability to cover a wide range of subject matters (some deem too personal to touch on) relevant to the youngest and oldest generations. A phenomenal story-teller crossing multi-genres... keep your eyes peeled and your ears pinned for the fabulous ELLE!
